PATs “WHY?”

THE FAMILY HOMESEAD THAT STILL STANDS TODAY

Hello Locals, Cottagers & Visitors!

My name is Pat Casey. I’m 54 years young, and I’m running for Deputy Mayor of Dysart et al.

I’ve lived in Haliburton my whole life, as did six generations of my family before me. My ancestors arrived here in Haliburton in 1867, from Ireland and Scotland, and my grandsons will be the eighth generation to call this area home.

Over those generations, we’ve watched Haliburton evolve from a small lumber town, through the railway and lodge era, to the cottage and tourism community we know today. My own family was part of that history, building and operating Wigamog before selling it to the Roberts family, and later building Birch Point Lodge on the south shore of Kashagawigamog Lake.

Today, I’m a diversified local business owner. I own Total Site Services Inc., Casey’s Water Well & Geothermal Inc., and Windy Ridge Homes Inc. Our companies have worked across Ontario in highways, utilities, aggregates, excavation, blasting, landfills, site work, water wells, geothermal systems, home building, and many other services. No matter where the work takes us, we’re always happy to call Haliburton home.

Giving back has always been important to us. Over the years, we’ve donated thousands of dollars and contributed to projects including the skateboard park, new playground equipment at Rotary Park, the Lookout rejuvenation spearheaded by Rotary (thanks, Rotary!), the Legion tank refurbishment, and many others. As a member of council, I’ve also worked alongside other members of council to advocate for projects that support and protect our community, including the soon-to-be-new crosswalk in front of the town docks, the removal of the previously required tolls at the Haliburton doctors’ office as well as the removal of parking meters on main street.

Building a better Haliburton for the full spectrum of people who live here, from young to old, has always been a passion for me. My campaign slogan is Sustainable. Balanced. Progress. That applies to our finances, development, infrastructure, environment, and the health and well-being of our community.

Business has taught me the importance of being efficient, transparent, and accountable. I believe municipal government should operate the same way. My strengths are managing multiple projects, listening to different perspectives, working with different personalities, and finding practical and innovative solutions. I’m accessible, I’m a problem solver, and most importantly, I like to get things done.

I ran for Ward 1 Councillor last term and am presently serving as the elected interim Deputy Mayor because I believed I could contribute. I think we’ve been an effective team, and after serving on Dysart Council and, more recently, County Council, I believe we can be even more effective moving forward.

Running for Deputy Mayor is the next step for me. And if you’d rather see me in action than take my word for it, watch one of our council meetings on YouTube. August 25, 2026, would be a good one!
